Zinc

Zinc is a bluish-to-light-grey, brittle metal that belongs to the group of transition elements in the periodic table. Its low boiling point is noteworthy, particularly in pyrometallurgical metal production, where this property plays a crucial role. Zinc is hard and brittle in its cast form but becomes formable at 120°C. In the electrochemical potential series, it is more negative than iron. As a result, zinc is widely used as an anode in cathodic corrosion protection, with galvanizing being a prominent application.
